The Atmosphere

As you walk into Koko Bakery, you immediately notice how clean and contemporary it is.  This was really surprising to me for some reason.  Don’t get me wrong, I liked it.  I just expected something different in my head.   As you walk through the doors, there’s a large display case of rolls and donuts.  There’s also a hot box with hot goods to choose from.  You order from the counter where there is quite a display of desserts and sweets to choose from.  One cool thing I got from walking into Koko’s was a feeling of peace and serenity.  It had been a troubling day and just something about Koko’s got me smiling again.  That is something I won’t forget about the place.  It’s just so darn cute you have to smile.

The Menu

Koko’s Bakery has a wide variety of Asian eats.  You can go in, grab some Bubble Tea and have a few of their rolls.  Or, you can order some Chai Tea and order a Rice Bowl with meat.  Many different things to choose from for even the most picky of eaters.  They have different Rice Bowls, sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc.  They also have a variety of Fruit Smoothies, Bubble Tea, Thai Shaved Ice and other specialty drinks.

The Food

Yum!!  Fresh dough being prepared in the back for the rolls….care put into everything they serve.  The food was fantastic.  Light, savory and just enough to fill you up but not leave you full.  We started with a variety of rolls.

Among these rolls were the Beef Curry Donut, the Ham and Egg Roll, Bacon and Cheese Roll, the BBQ Pork Roll and some of their Egg Custard.

These were all really good!  The BBQ pork roll was my favorite and Chris really enjoyed the Beef Curry Donut.  They were so tasty.  The Egg Custard was so much better than the last place I had it at.  Very creamy…very good.

For our main dish, we tried the Teriyaki Steak sandwich.  It was awesome.  Very fresh and tasty.  The bread it was served on was so good too.  SO much better of a sandwich than you’d get at some chain sub shop.

It was served with Vegetable Tempura (carrots, green peppers, etc.).  The Tempura was very good, not overly fried.  I wish more places would have this as a side option instead of fries.  The green peppers were great.

Our innocent bystander was fellow food blogger Nancy Heller from Fun Playing with Food (http://funplayingwithfood.blogspot.com/) .  She had the BBQ Pork Rice Bowl.  She said the Pork might have been a bit overcooked but otherwise it was a very good dish.  Good rice and BBQ taste.

We all had a selection of bubble teas as well.  I had the Grape Bubble Tea.  IT was super duper!

Departing

This is a place you can easily get in and out of quickly…or do what we did and have a leisurely lunch.  It’s a great little spot that is sure to make you smile and enjoy yourself.  Whimsical and fun is how I describe it.  Get in there soon and check them out!
