El Tango has something for everyone. From Baked Nachos to Bacalhau A Gomes de Sa, a fan of real authentic Oaxacan style cooking can eat great here. Everything is prepared fresh. Pricing is $3.00 for single taco’s to $16.95 for full-fledged dinners. They also have a variety of daily specials which aren’t listed on the menu. As Antonio is owner and chef of El Tango, he was also serving us our food. He was very generous and took time to explain some of the spices used in the food. He’s the kind of guy that’s great to talk to as you can tell he has some great stories to share. One thing he mentioned, which I think is worthwhile to mention here…is that the small local restaurants need your support. They’re costs are going up in the form of taxes, food costs, etc. and big chains come in and get all the breaks. Well, big chains typically don’t have near as good of food and we stress on our site to EAT LOCAL. It’s places like these on the site in which you need to stop in and experience. You can go walk in an Applebee’s anywhere in America and it will be the same. You stop into a local eatery like these and the experience will be one of a kind. Uniqueness is what makes our country great. It’s also what makes culinary experiences so much better. The FOODIncredible Food! Fresh, Authentic and unique! I started with the Queso Fundido. This is a mix of melted cheeses, shredded beef and 2 different salsas. It is served with fresh tortilla chips and makes an incredible appetizer.
My main dish was the Hacienda Salad with Chicken. This is an amazing salad, served with fresh avocado chunks, pineapple and potato. Arranged on lettuce and dressed with a chipotle lime cream dressing and goat cheese…this could go down as one of my all-time favorite salads…anywhere. Chris ordered Mole’ Chicken Wings for his appetizer. Wow, these were awesome. This was a special he didn’t have on the menu but I am so glad we were told to try them out. Incredible! Sweet….but then spicy…and then you can cool it down with the chipotle cream they are served with. Awesome app! Chris got the Fish Tacos for his main dish. These are corn tortillas filled with grilled red snapper. They reminded Chris of the places in LA he used to eat at. Said they were the best he’s had since leaving LA. Fantastic dish!
We figured we had loved everything we had so far that we might as well try dessert. And we’re sooooo glad we did. We got Cuban Key Lime Pie which is served with a Candied Jalapeno Guava sauce that is simply irresistible! IF you’re familiar with the TV series Dexter…well, we could have saved him some time in season 3 and pointed him here for the best Key Lime Pie around. Topped with cinnamon and this sauce, it’s just an amazing end to a great lunch!
DepartingWe didn’t want to leave. We felt like staying and kicking back a few cold ones with Antonio and talking more. What an awesome place to eat. A true hidden gem in Cleveland. You need to get out there today and EAT there. You will NOT be disappointed. We are extremely impressed and I can’t wait to take family and friends here ASAP! |
