The Atmosphere

Susy’s is a casual walk-in joint located in Tower City.  It has the feel of a “national chain” but is still a local place, focused on delivering delicious and fresh sandwiches, soups, wraps and salads.  It’s deli style in a way you order in line and go and get your food.  They actually brought me my freshly prepared sandwich to the table after I picked up my soup.  That was a nice thing for them to do and not expected in an environment like that…so KUDOS to you guys on that one. A nice piece of customer service.

We sat at a comfortable table in the back and took notice of al the different patrons this place attracts.  It was a very busy lunch rush and the line went out by the door but people were still very happy to be getting good quality food, affordably and quickly.

The Menu

Susy’s Soup is stock full of good soups, salads, sandwiches and wraps.  They have different soup specials on different days of the week so take a look at the above link for details on that.  It’s a menu designed for quick lunches, either on the go or eating them in the restaurant.  Susy’s Soup is also available for catering.  They have a variety of tastes which will suit different cravings that you might have.

The FOOD

I had the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup with the Club Sandwich.  This was recommended to me by an employee at Susy’s.  I told her I wanted to taste some of their best and she told me to go with these.

Yum.  Seriously…yum.  As an innocent bystander said (whom had the Chicken Paprikash soup), “They must put crack in these soups.  I could eat them every day!!”

They really are good.  Their soup chef prepares most of their soups from hand and are made one kettle at a time.  They truly taste like something your Grandma would make on a cold winter day when you needed a little TLC.  That metaphor only works if your grandma was a good cook though.  I’ve known some grandma’s who put cauliflower on pizza…and that just doesn’t work.

Anyhow…what they are doing at Susy’s…does work.  It’s fantastic.  The Club sandwich was Ham, Turkey and bacon served on Italian bread with stadium mustard.  Fantastic.  The Chicken and Wild rice soup was amazing.  I also sampled a Roasted Gouda and Red Pepper soup which was amazing.  Each of their soups is served with either crackers or a Honey Wheat roll.  I had the Honey Wheat roll and it was tasty indeed!

A few of the innocent bystanders I talked to also had the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup.  Another guy had a Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap and said it was something he’d definitely come back to Susy’s again to order.

All in all, the Food at Susy’s is highly recommended by me and the others I talked to.

Departing

This is a great quick lunch spot.  Fantastic, fresh food at affordable prices.  My lunch was $9 and included a sandwich, soup and drink.  You can tell they take pride in freshness at Susy’s and it showed in the lunch that I had.  It’s a place that you can go to year round.  Don’t be tricked by the name, it’s not only soup for a cold day.  They’ve got a menu that will satisfy you any time of year.
