Teresa’s Pizza
Review by Joel Kirk
240 Euclid Avenue at Euclid & East 4th The Place/Atmosphere:First off, the new Teresa’s Pizza has a great location. Located on Euclid avenue near East 6th, House of Blues and the Corner Alley is sure to make Teresa’s a great place to grab a quick bite when you’re downtown late at night. The nice thing about the way Teresa’s is set up is that it is made for the person on the go with the walk up counter where they sell pizza by the slice or if you have time, sit at one of their comfortable booths or tables. Granted, with our experience, the service was a bit slow considering we just ordered slices. On a plus side, they did offer us some nice kettle chips to munch on while we waited for the slices. I’d say if you’re busy and want a good slice of Pizza downtown, do the walk up counter and get it to go. They offer a full menu of pastas and specialty pizzas (buffalo chicken, chili dog, etc) as well if you are feeling adventurous! What was ordered:Joel: I ordered the standard Pepperoni slice and also a slice of the White Chicken and Broccoli. Now, don’t let that picture above fool you like it fooled me. I was like “WTF? I ordered piece of Pepperoni, not a piece of cheese that had a piece of pepperoni fall onto it” The secret here is they put the pepperoni between the cheese and the crust. It took me a bite to figure this out and threw me for a loop at first. I tried taking a picture of this to show you but it ended up looking like a massive flesh wound on my camera, so just take my word for it. The thing about this pizza is the sauce is much different than what you normally would taste. The sauce has a great tomato taste but then also has a slight hint of sweetness in it that makes it unique. I can see how this would be a taste one would crave for as it definitely makes it stand out from the regular pizza you might be used to.
The second slice I had was the White Chicken and Broccoli. Not as impressed. Actually, sort of let down is a better description. I expected a lot more. From the very first bite it was dull and bland and overall lacking in flavor. You know the Dana Carvey song from Saturday Night Live “Chopping Broccoli”? Well, they should take his cue and Chop this from their menu. Not a good piece of pizza at all. Overall, my experience is 2 stars for food. Chris: Piece of pepperoni and piece of garlic bread with cheese. Chris was pretty adamant that the slice of Pepperoni he had was not near as good as the Sheet pizza he had from there but was still impressed. Also, he was confused by the hide and seek piece of pepperoni that he had. “Let us see the meat!” he screamed. However, he really enjoyed the piece of garlic cheese bread that he ate. Enough to bump up his overall rating to 3 stars.
Innocent bystander: Side salad with pepperoni. “How can you screw that up, ya know?” Simply stated. Just what we like on this website. Hour Later Review:Ok, definitely feel a little heartburn and had to go the bathroom after this meal. Don’t know if it was from the pepperoni or from that disastrous thing they called White Chicken and Broccoli. Tell you what buddy, the after effects ain’t white.
Would we go back?: Here’s the thing. I’d go back as long as I didn’t have to sit anywhere near that White Chicken and Broccoli piece of awfulness. I’ve been told to try their pasta dishes (recommended by our waitress) as well as their sheet pizza…so we might have to add that to a future review. Definitely worth trying if you are a fan of pizza and want something different. |
